Fellow Worker Vincenzo Madonna Murdered by Scab in Paterson

Paterson, New Jersey
– Fellow Worker Madonna Given Grand I.W.W.  Funeral

Vincenzo Madonna was shot Sunday, June 29, in an altercation with scabs. He was taken to his home and died July 1st from a wound in the abdomen. The funeral was held Monday morning, July 5th, in Paterson.

The funeral procession passed from his home at 120 Belmont Avenue through the center of Paterson.  Red was the color of the day. The 1500 men in the procession wore red ribbons, red carnations, or red neckties. The 350 women also dressed in red. Big Bill Haywood and Carlo Tresca along with several local I.W.W. leaders marched at the head of mourners. Thousands lined the street and withstood intense summer heat to pay their last respects to Fellow Worker Vincenzo Madonna.
