-Mother Jones “Makes a Corner Speech, Having No Permit for a Park.”
Mother Jones was allowed to speak Friday evening, July 24th, at the corner of Twenty-fourth Street and Fourth Avenue (now Lexington Ave). She was escorted there by Capt. O’Connor of the West Thirtieth Street Police Department and his reserves. She spoke to a crowd of 1,500 for about an hour on the subject of child labor.
